American Security Bank is a California subsidiary of America Bancshares, Inc., a bank holding company located in Newport Beach, California. America Bancshares, Inc. is primarily owned by Mr. B. John Barry as part of the Barry Family Trust.

The Bank was opened in September, 1990, as Sun Country Bank, and was purchased by America Bancshares and the Barry family in August of 2003. In the fall of 2003, the Bank’s holdings expanded through the purchase of PriVest Bank, a single location in Santa Ana.

The Bank changed its name to American Security Bank in June, 2005. From June, 2005 to November, 2008, the Bank’s footprint expanded through the opening of new offices in Corona and Apple Valley; the relocation of its headquarters from Santa Ana to Newport Beach; the relocation of its commercial real estate lending division to the headquarters facility; and the construction of an updated office that replaced its flagship Apple Valley office. The bank operates seven full-service banking offices, and a loan production office in the city of Palmdale.

The four-county footprint served by American Security Bank includes the High Desert region of San Bernardino County, the Antelope Valley region of Los Angeles County, the Inland Empire, and Orange County.
